    Updated On: Mar 17, 2022

On Friday September 11th Officer Derek Markle, a member of Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police DOC Lodge #28 and Correction Officer with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, set out on a grueling 4 Day, 260 Mile Bicycle Ride through the Adirondack Mountains along with 300 other Law Enforcement Members from around the United States.

This annual event named   “The Tour de Force 9/11 Charity Bicycle Ride” raises money which benefits families of Law Enforcement Officers who are tragically killed in the line of duty protecting the citizens of the United States. Officer Markle has raised $4,800, putting him in 5th Place overall among the 300 riders. This has been achieved due to the overwhelming generosity of his co-workers throughout the Mass DOC, as well as organizations like the Mass Fraternal Order of Police DOC Lodge #28, who just made a $500 donation, which was presented to Officer Markle at DOC Headquarters in Milford on Thursday September 10th.

We would all like to take this oppurtunity to commend Officer Markle for his dedication and commitment to get involved in such a Noble and Heartfelt cause.  GREAT JOB Derek!!!
